McKoy Sushi Burgers
Heather McDonald and Jo Koy stop by the kitchen, and Bert mashes up their names for inspiration — meet the McKoy. There's nothing like sushi burgers and sake bombs to carry the conversation, built from tuna and salmon patties on crispy fried sticky-rice "buns" with avocado and a spicy Kewpie sauce.
Sushi Rice Buns
Ingredients
- Cooked white (sticky) rice
- 1 tbsp baker's sugar
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp mirin
- Sesame seeds
Steps
- Combine the baker's sugar, rice wine vinegar, and mirin in a bowl.
- Mix into the cooked white rice.
- Mold the sticky rice into patties, fry until crisp, and top with sesame seeds.
Special Sauce
Ingredients
- Kewpie mayo
- Sriracha
- Pickled cucumber, chopped
Steps
- Mix Kewpie mayo, sriracha, and chopped pickled cucumber to taste.
Burger Patties & Assembly
Ingredients
- Tuna
- Wasabi paste
- Kewpie mayo
- Salmon
- Avocado
Steps
- Chop the tuna into fine pieces, mix with wasabi paste and mayo, and form into patties.
- Chop the salmon into fine pieces and form into 3 patties.
- Assemble the burgers between fried sticky-rice buns, adding a layer of avocado and the special sauce.
